Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.”

I needed some time to compose myself before I wrote this review. I spent the whole next day moping, mutter inconsistencies while in a daze of heart ache and contempt. How could four hundred plus pages affect me so profoundly? It is a work of art, that’s how. My chest was contracting, the last 85% of the book I spent heaving, mewling sounds coming from the back of my throat.

To sum up in one sentence the ramifications this book left on me personally by the end would be ‘I died a little on the inside’.
All I can contrive from it now is the opportunity to having bared witness to a love develop so pure through the pages, that it is to my solemn belief such love that evolved between these two could put contemporary romance to shame. With the modern day melodrama that tends to seethe in relationships I have come across that, in reality feigning interest has become the norm for most epilogues.

No one understands them let alone knows what’s going on at home. Are labels we/society tend to thrust on people and situations we cannot fathom or fear due to the lack of unwilling to understand. When you already have the expedients to connect with others, where does that leave people that feel labelized and outcasted?

Maya has one friend, a wanton little thing; biding her time she nurtures her siblings coveting the role of a mother. While Lochie suffers from social anxiety, the only people he can communicate with without feeling as if the world is closing in on him is his family. About to graduate school and expected to apply to go off to university by his teachers do to his exemplementry grades and literature writing ability, all he can focus on is bills and feeding his family. Both Maya and Loahan have a strong sense of family values.

“I might appear confident and chatty, but I spend most of my time laughing at jokes I don't find funny, saying things I don't really mean - because at the end of the day that's what we're all trying to do: fit in, one way or another, desperately trying to pretend we're all the same.”

“You think no one else understands, I want to tell him, but you’re wrong. I do. You’re not alone.”

“Never before have I imagined my life without him-like this house, he is my only point of reference in this difficult existence, this unstable and frightening world. The thought of his leaving home fills me with a terror so strong, it takes my breath away. I feel like one of those seagulls covered in oil form a spill, drowning in a black tar of fear.”

“He is the first to break the silence. ‘Maya what the hell are we doing?’ Although his voice is barely more than a whisper, he sounds close to tears. ‘I don’t understand. Why-why the hell is this happening to us?’ I close my eyes and press against him, stroking his bare arm with m fingertips. ‘All I know is that I love you,’ I say in quiet desperation, the words spilling out of their own accord. ‘I love you far more than just a brother. I…I love you in-in every kind of way.’”

“It was only a matter of time before it broke through our fragile web of denial, forcing us to confront the truth and acknowledge who we are: two people in love-a love that nobody else could possibly understand.”

“He looks at me, his eyes full. ‘I’ll stay with her for as long as she likes. I’ll marry her, if that’s what she wants. I mean, at the end of the day, what the hell does it matter who I end up with if it can’t be you?’”

“It’s not just the physical frustration-it’s the impossibility of our situation, the horror of what we’ve got ourselves into, the despair of knowing that I will never be able to love Maya the way I want to.”

“I’m slowly being torn in two. You stand there covered in cuts and bruises that I might as well have inflicted on you with my own hands. And I love you, so much that it’s killing me, yet all I can do is push you away and hurt you until eventually your love will turn to hate.”

“The shallow dip in the ground is carpeted with leaves and surrounded by a few remaining green ferns and winter shrubs, enclosed in a circle of bare trees. The ground beneath us is a tapestry of russet and gold. Even in the depths of winter, my little piece of paradise is still beautiful. Lochan looks around in bewilderment. “Are we here to bury a body or dig one up?’”

I have been a tad on the biases side in the past when a book did not end the way I wanted it to. This one did not end the way I would have hoped. I knew before I started reading it that something bad would come about that was irrevocably unchangeable. Yet for the sheer fact of the poeticism expressed in the narration of their days to the unyielding drive of their basic needs and desires for one another, there was never a doubt in my mind this deserved the highest ranking I could give it in my book.

As must as this book tore me up emotionally I am forever grateful to have discovered it. This will be a book that I will continue to reread throughout my life in exertion to consume a love so begotten and a love so lost.

The one book EVERY woman should own

Burlesque and the Art of the Teese/Fetish and the Art of the Teese by Dita Von Teese

On one side, Dita Von Teese shares the beauty of the burlesque world, with bubblegum dreams and show tunes to strip to. Flip over for fantasies in fetish with dramatic costumes and the allure of submission.

Burlesque and the Art of the Teese

"I advocate glamour. Every day. Every minute."
I'm a good dancer and a nice girl, but I'm a great showgirl. I sell, in a word, magic. Burlesque is a world of illusion and dreams and of course, the striptease. Whether I am bathing in my martini glass, riding my sparkling carousel horse, or emerging from my giant gold powder compact, I live out my most glamorous fantasies by bringing nostalgic imagery to life.
Let me show you my world of gorgeous pin-ups, tantalizing stripteases, and femmes fatales. I'll give you a glimpse into my life, but a lady never reveals all.

Fetish and the Art of the Teese

You may have come for the fetish. Or you may just be sneaking a peek at this mysterious and peculiar other side. No matter what you've come for, there is something for you to indulge in.
My world of fetish may not be the one that you would expect. As a burlesque performer, I entice my audience, bringing their minds closer and closer to sex and then -- as good temptress must -- snatching it away. As a fetish star, I apply the same techniques. . . .
An opera-length kid leather glove, a strict wasp waist, an impossibly high patent leather heel, a severely painted red lip. . . . Come with me into my world of decadent fetishism.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Dita preform twice, Onec at The Crazy Horse in the MGM Grand Las Vegas & The House of Blues in San Diego.
Both times different act's & phenomenal.

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma...my review to come.

My review for this book will be up soon.........*sigh*........I just had to state this book messed with my head then shattered my heart!
Sixteen-year-old Maya and seventeen-year-old Lochan have never had the chance to be “normal” teenagers. Having pulled together for years to take care of their younger siblings while their wayward, drunken mother leaves them to fend alone, they have become much more than brother and sister. And now, they have fallen in love. But this is a love that can never be allowed, a love that will have devastating consequences ...

How can something so wrong feel so right?

I want this book!!!!!!

I'm looking for this in an e-reader format, I don't want to wait for the hard copy!!!!!

The Love Of My Life by Louise Douglas

'I miss him with every breath and heartbeat. He should have been my happy ending. Instead, he is the sad beginning to my story.'

Olivia and Luca Felicone had known each other nearly all their lives, but when they fell in love as teenagers and eloped to London they broke the hearts of those closest to them. Luca's parents run Marinella's restaurant, the colourful hub of life in the otherwise bleak north-eastern seaside town of Watersford, and his mother, Angela, has never forgiven Olivia for causing such a rift in her beloved family.

On a freezing January night Olivia's life is shattered when she learns that Luca has been killed in a car accident. She is left with nothing and, after suffering from weeks of overwhelming grief, she abandons her job and returns north to where Luca has been buried in Watersford.

Olivia's chance meeting with Luca's married twin brother, Marc, leads to the realization that he is experiencing a loss almost as painful as her own. Their desolation draws them into an affair which both know has no future, but fills the space where Luca should be. It is a course of action that can only spiral out of control, and when it does the consequences are both explosive and cruel.

The Love of My Life is a beautiful novel that portrays both the innocence of childhood, and the dynamics of love and loss with deftness and sensitivity. It is, above all, a stunning debut from an author with a unique and natural narrative voice.

I believe it's the book drama I've been craving!!!

This is a romance book, let’s not even pretend Emma doesn’t take sex crazed Aidan up on his offer! This book had some great love scenes and plays out beautifully in regards to Emma and Aidan getting to know one another while on the fast track to starting a family…but alas can Aidan keep from repeating history and destroying the one thing he never thought he wanted and might not be able to let go of?

This book has a great cliffhanger!!!! I thought I was going to be going stir crazy while waiting for book two, but now this is what I’ll be doing in anticipation for book two!!!

Aris Returns: A Vampire Love Story (Infinity Diaries Trilogy #1) by Devin Morgan

I’m not above admitting, I behaved like a little trollop and clicked “to read” so fast when I first saw this book based on the hottie on the cover!!!!!

Photobucket

Then I saw “Vampires” and though oh hell yeah, I’m sold!

Aris Returns is an unconventional love triangle between:

Sarah Hagan: a 37-year-old divorcée psychologist, whom spends all of her time working and working out in efforts to ignore the longing she feels in finding her soul mate to connect with on all levels, for life. Occasionally bidding her time between her two closest friends; parole officer Colleen and fellow psychologist Bonnie and flighty barely there men. Until gorgeous Carlos and sex-god Aris enter her life filling up her time, heart and mind.

Carlos Havarro: a 25-year-old gorgeous, high school dropout ex-gangster out on parole looking to turn his life around. With the help of his parole officer Colleen and her best friend Sarah who’s putting Carlos under hypnotherapy in efforts to help him with his anger issues he builds a friendship with his psychologist while trying to keep his emotions for Sarah under control.

Aris: A 2-thousand-year-old vampire, whom started out life as an officer for Alexander the great then finds himself one of thee undead against his will. Then in Tudor England living a voyeuristic solitude life. He gets the chance to discover where the vampire originates from and finding a chance at love. Somewhere his life as an undead takes a wrong turn that leads to his demise.

Carlos has been channeling Aris through his hypnotherapy session with Sarah. But with living in a society that’s vampire obsessed. The actual idea of a vampire making conversation, telling his tail through gorgeous moderately educated Carlos is absurd…right? Could Aris be real or is he a figment of Carlos’s subconscious that only holds a key to unlocking the source of Carlos’s pain and anger? Are Carlos and Aris one in the same or is this Aris bidding his time until he can find his opportune moment to manifest into the twenty-first century?

This book has quick time lapses, a relentless gang not willing the let their second in command just go, meddling families and hot sexy dream sequences.

My heart broke for Aris in his tails he doesn’t get to enjoy life much himself only watching others, he felt so lonely and sad to me. My heart broke for Carlos by the end of the book. I will not say why, I’ll let you discover.

Here is how I felt when I reached “The End”

When I first picked up Undeniable I thought, for sure I’ll be putting this back down. I’m not into biker gang stories, but I am a huge fan of Son’s of Anarchy. Go figure, I know. Well putting this book down never came close to happening and this isn’t just a biker gang story. By the way if this book were ever made into a movie it would blow SOA outta the water!!!!!! Bare in mind I’m still a HUGE SOA fan.

With that being said let my review commence….
************WARNING, MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*************
**********************BEWARE********************************
******CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!************************

Eva is 5 years old when she first meets the love of her life Deuce at a vending machine in a penitentiary visitation room. Deuce is 23 at the time. Eeewwwwww, I know I thought the same thing. But hold tight it’ll all make since….eventually.

Eva is the daughter of Preacher the president for the MC (Motorcycle Club) Demons in New York.
Deuce is the VP (Vice President) & son of Reaper the president for the MC (Motorcycle Club) Horsemen in Montana and he is about to become the president of the Horsemen.

The Demons and The Horsemen are not rival biker gangs but they are not the best of friends. They do business with one another.

Their first meeting is sweet and innocent 5 year old Eva steals whatever decency Deuce had left in his heart, while they make a lasting impression on each other.

7 years later Eva 12, Deuce 30.
They have a chance meeting, take a walk and have a friendly heart to heart conversation getting to know one another as two human beings. They never forgot the other one and start to feel a kin for each other. Deuce gives Eva a personal token which she ends up keeping with her at all times. Eva has also acquired an adoptive brother whom is 3 years older than her known as “Crazy Frankie”.

4 years later Eva 16, Deuce 34.
They meet again at a BBQ when Crazy Frankie has now fully attached himself to Eva, she is his obsession and he will stop at nothing to possess her in every way. However she gave her heart away to Deuce a long time ago. Deuce is unhappily married with two kids. Their friends ship is rekindled, passion ignites along with some gunfire and blood.

2 years later Eva 18!!!!!! Deuce 36.
Uuuuuuuuummmmmmmm I’m not telling you, read the damn book!!!!!!!! It’s hot as hell.

The times gaps keep going through the book till the end where Eva is 35 and Deuce is 53.

I could keep going but that would be telling you their story and I’m not gonna do that. Besides every page is action packed, has depth and weaves into the conclusion of the book beautifully, it would take me all day to describe it to you.

Now I’m going to talk about three of the characters before I go back to the book.

Kami; Eva’s best friend: Holy hell EVERY chick needs a best friend like loud/ foul mouth rich bitch wanton slut Kami. She is loyal to only one person. Eva.

Crazy Frankie; should he have been on med’s.? YES! He should have been put down a long time ago but then we wouldn’t have as juicy as a story.

Chase; Kami’s hot lawyer cheating asshole husband….I liked him, not for the woman he was really in love with, but I found him funny and sad. My heart broke for him when it came to the end of his time in the book.

The rest of the characters are colorful and play an intricate part in their own ways. None of them were there just to fill up time and space.

This book cannot be called just a book; it’s an emotional message that’s packs a punch (my thoughts anyways).
YES, there is cheating, love, emotional loss, births, deaths, pain, two disturbing rapes, lies, heartbreak, abandonment, bad decisions and bonds promises made and broken. It is gruesome….but so is life! None of these characters are weak they are a byproduct of the circumstance they were born into and they try to make the best of it.

Uuuuummmmm it’s safe to say I loved it, ALL OF IT!

Awesome part: When Eva meets Deuce’s two kids. I would have freaked the same way she did. It felt real and me. I also love the bonds she forms with them.

Some of my favorite lines:
“Mark Twain said, ‘The two most important days in your life is the day you were born and the day you find out why’. I don’t remember the day I was born but I remember the day I found out why. His name was Deuce. He was my ‘why’. And this is our story. It is not a pretty one. Some parts of it are downright ugly. But it’s ours. And because I believe everything happens for a reason, I wouldn’t change a thing.”

“There are three different types of men in this world. There are weak men; men who run and hide when life slaps them in the ass. Then there are men; men who have a backbone yet occasionally, when life slaps them in the ass, will rely on others. And then there are real men; men who don’t cry or complain, who don’t just have a backbone, they are the backbone. Men who make their own decisions and live with the consequences, who accept responsibility for their actions or words. Men who, when life slaps them in the ass, slap back and move on. Men who live hard and die even harder.”

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions and he’d just bought himself a one way ticket.”

“You got yourself a beautiful, younger woman to keep you young and all I got is a club full of stupid shitheads who think bathing is optional and farting is an art form.”

“But we got through it. Together. It didn’t happen overnight and it wasn’t easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. And love is worth everything”

Thank you for this book. Thank you if you read my rant. And please go enjoy this book!
